We Aim to Please!

We Aim to Please!*Regarding your pet’s haircut – If the length of your pet’s hair is important to you, it is very important to explain in detail to the Groomer how short or long you would like your pet’s hair to be from head to toe so the Groomer will understand what pleases you. If there is a reason the pet’s hair cannot be cut as you wish, the Groomer will be able to explain this to you at the time of drop off.

  • Pick up time – If you wish your pet’s hair was cut shorter: Groomer will be happy to accomodate you before you leave or within the same week.
  • If you feel your pet’s hair was cut too short: Please take time to explain during pick up time what you would like different the next time so the Groomer can adjust her notes for your pet. We aim to please!

We appreciate your cooperation on working with our Groomers as they learn the style of cut that most pleases you.

*Regarding your pet’s brush out – It is important to understand the nature of shedding. Even with extreme brush outs, your pet will continue to show shedding. The more regular you brush your pet, the less shedding will take place, but there will still be shedding. Animals grow a heavy coat in the winter to help insulate them and then shed the extra hair in the summer. However, dogs will also shed broken or damaged hair, and if their skin is irritated from conditions such as allergies, they will also shed excessively.

PAWS Here for Important Information You Should Know

Drop off time: Monday - Friday 8:00 to 9:00 am, Saturday - 8:00 am

Pick up time: You will be called when your pet is ready. Pets are usually completed for pick up after 3:00. Please inform receptionist a day ahead or when scheduling if you need the pet to be finished earlier on day of grooming. Groomer will strive to accommodate your request if at all possible. Hours for Tharp Animal Care Grooming Salon are the same hours of operation as the Centers with all pets needing picked up before closing.

A never been groomed pet: If your pet has never been groomed before, we take our time so the pet will adapt better to this new experience.

Meeting with the Groomer: It is preferred that the Groomer meet with the pet owner to assess the condition of the pet’s coat and to go over the desired cut or any special requests. Depending on the condition of the coat, pricing will be set. A matted dog will cost more than one that has been regularly groomed.

Current phone number where owner can be reached is required: It is important to be able to reach you for any questions or if something unpredictable would arise. Ex. Shear downs can occur if your dog’s hair is too matted to save. We prefer to talk to owner before a shear down. If the owner cannot be reached with the phone number we have on record, the Groomer will need to make a professional decision at time of grooming unless owner has left instructions otherwise.

Discounted services: SAVE $ for using more than one service during one stop! We know how busy life can be and how valuable your time and pet are. Why not take advantage of your pet’s grooming visit and conveniently schedule your pet for another service(s) at a discounted price?

  • Veterinary Services – from health check and vaccinations to even having surgeries and dental services for your pet while finalizing with one of our bath or grooming packages. Complete your pet’s stay by pampering your pet afterwards with a complete grooming so he or she will look and feel fresh from head to toe. This way your pet goes home healthier and happier and so will you as it will all be at a savings! What you have done will determine how long your pet will need to stay.
  • Boarding Service – have your pet vet checked, vaccinated or groomed before going home! Come home to a well groomed, healthy and happy pet with your boarding service and veterinary services discounted! When scheduling your pet’s overnight stay, be sure to let the front desk know you want your pet groomed or vet checked during his or her stay with us and save. If you want a grooming with your boarding stay, please schedule well in advance. The grooming salon might not be able to accommodate late requests during our busy summer season or holidays.

Why Groom?

Why Groom?Do you think that grooming only makes your dog or cat look good? Not so! One of the most important things you can do to maintain your pet’s health is to make sure he or she stays well groomed. Grooming is important for keeping your pet comfortable and maintaining healthy skin and fur. For this reason, we recommend regular grooming sessions for your pets.

Maintaining Good Grooming Habits Benefits Your Pet and You! How?

Potential Health Problems Found While Grooming

  • Parasites and skin conditions – parasites such as fleas, ticks and ear mites to name a few and problematic skin conditions which are hidden under long or matted hair can lead to potential problems that can be prevented and dealt with swiftly keeping your pet healthier! Our groomers have discovered early cancers, infected moles, painful skin irritations, etc.
  • Infections – Ear infections, urinary tract infections, yeast infections, eye infections such as dry eye which can lead to blinding, etc.
  • Toenail Problems – Light colored claws are easier to cut than dark claws as the blood vessels and nerves that supply the toenail, called the quick, is easier to see. Not keeping your pets toenails regularly trimmed will cause the quick to grow with the length of the nail which eventually will cause your pet’s nails to remain too long. If you cut into the quick, the nail will bleed and the pet will experience pain.
  • Dental Disease – Tartar, loose teeth

Looking and Smelling Attractive

  • This will have positive effects on your relationship with your pet. You are happier and they are happier too!

Looking and Smelling Attractive

Reflects Positively on the Caring Owner Who Goes the Extra Mile for their Pet

  • Having a healthy coat benefits your dog and cat in so many ways. By maintaining good grooming habits, you are doing far more than just showing off your pet’s beautiful fur, you are also giving your pet the gift of good health!

The Human/Animal Bond

  • For many pets, their owner is the only one they will have and it is the bond of a lifetime. Why not pamper your pet for a happier and healthier life? Regular grooming sessions should be a pleasurable routine that both you and your dog look forward to.
